WAYNESBURG, Pa. (March 29) – The Waynesburg University men's tennis team ended its 25-day hiatus from competition on Friday by hosting Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opponent Bethany. The match was ultimately decided in the doubles contests, where Bethany (7-2, 2-0) secured victories at the number-two and number-three spots by the scores of 8-7 and 8-5, respectively. The number-one Jacket flight of seniors
Jonah Cooper (Beaver Falls, Pa. / Beaver County Christian) and
Josh Denham (New Kensington, Pa. / Valley) scored a hard-fought 8-6 triumph.
Cooper completed a 2-0 day with an impressive 6-0, 6-3 triumph at first singles. Waynesburg's (4-3, 0-1) other win of the afternoon came courtesy of freshman
Joe English (Smithfield, Pa. / Homeschooled), by the set scores of 6-0, 6-1 at the number-three spot.
Waynesburg is back in action on Wednesday, when it hosts Thiel for a PAC match. Start time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
