WAYNESBURG, Pa. (March 30) – The Waynesburg University women's lacrosse team opened Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play on Saturday with a home match against Thiel. The Yellow Jackets fell 18-4 to the visiting Tomcats.
Thiel (6-3, 1-0) jumped out to a 5-0 lead after 4:37 of play. Junior
Jackie Adler (Allison Park, Pa. / Hampton) broke up the shutout when she took a feed from sophomore
Breanna Martini (Pickerington, Ohio / Pickerington North) and found the back of the net.
The Tomcats scored the next seven goals to go up 12-1 before Adler got Waynesburg (0-7, 0-1) back on the board with just over eight minutes showing on the first-half clock. Thiel tacked on one final goal before halftime to go ahead 13-2 at the break.
Martini scored a pair of second-half goals to wrap up Waynesburg's scoring for the day. Adler assisted on the first of those two scores.

Melissa Yoder (Belleville, Pa. / Belleville Menonite) logged three groundballs each on the day.

Riley Yoder (Lancaster, Ohio / Fisher Catholic) played all 60 minutes in net and made 10 saves.
Waynesburg returns to non-conference competition on Tuesday, April 2, when it hosts Division II Davis & Elkins. Start time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
