Men's tennis wraps up regular season

Jackets fall 6-3 at Saint Vincent

LATROBE, Pa. (April 17) – The Waynesburg University men's tennis team traveled to Saint Vincent on Wednesday for its final regular season match of the 2018-19 season. Senior Jonah Cooper (Beaver Falls, Pa. / Beaver County Christian) picked up a pair of victories, but it wasn't enough, as the Yellow Jackets dropped the contest 6-3.

Cooper teamed up with classmate Josh Denham (New Kensington, Pa. / Valley) to score a hard-fought 8-6 win at first doubles. The veteran followed that up by winning a battle at first singles. Cooper showed his veteran mettle in a grueling 7-6, 5-7, 10-8 win.

Speaking of three-set victories, freshman Joe English (Smithfield, Pa. / Home Schooled) notched one of his own at number-three singles. English scored his most recent victory 4-6, 7-5, 10-8.

With the regular season in the books, the PAC turns its attention to the upcoming championship tournament. Waynesburg (8-6, 3-4), which earned the number-five seed, will travel to fourth-seeded Bethany (9-5, 4-3) on Tuesday, April 23, for a 4:30 p.m. quarterfinal match. The Jackets look to avenge a 6-3 regular season setback they suffered at the hands of the Bison on Friday, March 29,
