WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 14) – The Waynesburg University women's soccer team played host to Mount Aloysius on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. The two teams locked up in a defensive battle at John F. Wiley Stadium, with the Mounties coming away with a 1-0 victory.
The Mounties (3-1-1) picked up the only point of the game on an own goal in the sixth minute of the contest. Unfortunately, that hiccup soured another strong effort from the Waynesburg defense and freshman goalkeeper
Autumn Blair (Penn Hills, Pa. / Penn Hills). Waynesburg (2-4) allowed just 10 shots to Mount Aloysius, including three in the second half. Blair made four saves in the setback.
The Jacket offense bested the opposition in both total shots (13-10) and shots on goal (6-5). Waynesburg attempted seven corner kicks, including four in the second half.
The Jackets are back in action on Wednesday, when they face off with Franciscan. Start time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
