WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 21) – The Waynesburg women's soccer team hosted Baldwin Wallace in a non-conference matchup Saturday evening. The two teams were locked in a defensive battle at John F. Wiley Stadium that stretched past regulation. Unfortunately, the visiting Yellow Jackets came away with 1-0 victory in overtime.
The Yellow Jackets of Baldwin Wallace (7-2) scored the only point of the game in the 99
th of the contest. Unfortunately, that score put an end to another strong effort from the Waynesburg (2-6) defense and freshman goalkeeper
Autumn Blair (Penn Hills, Pa. / Penn Hills), who made six saves over 48:39, before leaving with an injury.
The game was ultimately decided in the 99
th minute when BW managed to knock in a bouncing ball in front of sophomore keeper
Emma Burns (Avella, Pa. / Weirton Madonna) for the golden goal.
The Jackets are back in action on Tuesday, when they face off with Pitt Greensburg at John F. Wiley Stadium. Start time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
