WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 24) – The Waynesburg University women's soccer team faced maybe its stiffest competition of the non-PAC season when Pitt Greensburg came to town on Tuesday night. The Yellow Jackets hung with the Bobcats throughout most of the night, but were unable to handle the opposition its first setback of the season in a 3-1 contest.

Emma Burns (Avella, Pa. / Weirton Madonna) was a force in the first half for Waynesburg (2-7), making six saves as the two teams played to a 0-0 halftime tie. The Jackets showed that they were ready for the unbeaten Bobcats when senior
Teagan Jenner (Berlin, Pa. / Berlin Brothersvalley) converted a penalty kick in the 46
th minute to give her team a 1-0 edge.
Jenner's goal was the first allowed by UPG (8-0) since Wednesday, Sept. 11, a span of three-straight shutouts.
Waynesburg maintained its advantage for 21 minutes, before the Bobcats tied the score in the 67
th minute. Unfortunately, the visitors tallied the eventual game winner five minutes later on a penalty kick. UPG picked up an insurance goal with 2:53 showing on the clock to close out the victory.
Burns ended the evening with seven saves on 10 shots on goal. After being outshot seven-to-three in the first half, Waynesburg bounced with a much tighter 9-8 differential in shots in period number two.
The Yellow Jackets open PAC play on Saturday with a road trip to Chatham. Start time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
