WASHINGTON, Pa. (Sept. 27) – The Waynesburg University volleyball team hit the road on Thursday evening for a short trip up I-79 to face Washington & Jefferson in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match. The host Presidents took the contest by a 3-0 final score.
W&J (3-11, 2-1) took the contest by the set scores of 25-18, 25-8,25-11.
Waynesburg (2-9, 0-3) was led offensively by junior
Hannah Colvin (Hagerstown, Md. / Grace Academy) and sophomore
Hannah Buhr (Jefferson, Md. / Brunswick), who tallied a team-high five kills each. Junior
Alexis Phillips (New Kensington, Pa. / Plum) tallied a team-best 10 assists.
Defensively, Waynesburg picked up a squad-best nine digs from sophomore
Alyson Johnson (Raceland, Ky. / St. Joseph Central Catholic). Colvin added eight digs, while freshman
Addi Virostek (Ford City, Pa. / Armstrong) helped out with seven.
The Jackets will be at home for just the second time this season on Saturday for a tri-match. The Yellow Jackets host PAC opponent Thiel and non-conference member Earlham beginning at 11 a.m.
