CRESSON, Pa. (Sept. 6) – The Waynesburg University volleyball team hit the road on Friday for a match at Mount Aloysius. The Yellow Jackets gave the host Mounties a fight, but wound up on the wrong end of a 3-0 final score.
Mt. Aloysius (3-2) pulled out 25-22 wins in sets one and two to take a 2-0 advantage. The home team went on to seal the victory with a 25-12 triumph in set three.
Juniors
Mya Brooks (Lansing, Mich. / Holt) and
Hannah Colvin (Hagerstown, Md. / Grace Academy) led Waynesburg (0-6) with seven and six kills, respectively. Senior
Alyssa Proper (Titusville, Pa. / Maplewood) helped out the offense with a squad-best 12 assists and two service aces.
The Yellow Jackets' defensive efforts were led by sophomore
Alyson Johnson (Raceland, Ky. / St. Joseph Central Catholic). Johnson piled up a match-high 25 digs. Brooks posted a match high of her own with two blocks.
After spending the first week of the schedule on the road, the Jackets play their first home match of the season on Wednesday, Sept. 11, when La Roche comes to the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse. Start time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
