MCKEESPORT, Pa. (Sept. 7) – The Waynesburg University men's golf team teed off on its fall 2019 schedule with a dual match at Youghiogheny Country Club against NAIA member Carlow. The Yellow Jackets were up to the Celtics' challenge, defeating them 333-365.
Sophomore
Luke Diel (Gibsonia, Pa. / Mars) led the charge by firing a squad-best 77. He was followed by junior
Will Purbaugh (Confluence, Pa. / Turkeyfoot Valley), who also broke 80 with a 79.
Senior
Alex Orlandini (Bridgeville, Pa. / South Fayette) chipped in an 83 to the winning effort, while junior
CJ Sekanick (Moon Township, Pa. / Moon) posted the number-four score for Waynesburg (1-0) with a 94. Freshman
Cannon Hay also carded a 94 in his collegiate debut.
The Jackets are back in action on Thursday, Sept. 12, when they head to the Grove City Invitational. Tee time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
