GROVE CITY, Pa. (Oct. 14) – The Waynesburg University volleyball team traveled to Grove City on Thursday night for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match. The conference rivals split the first two sets, but the Wolverines claimed sets three and four for a 3-1 victory.
Grove City (15-7, 8-3) took a 1-0 advantage after taking the opener 25-13, before Waynesburg (9-14, 3-10) rebounded with a 25-20 triumph in set two. The home team claimed sets three and four by the respective scores of 25-16 and 25-10.
Senior
Mya Brooks (Lansing, Mich. / Holt) and freshman
Makayla Osborn (Salem, Ohio / Heartland Christian School) paced the Jacket offense with 11 kills each. Freshman
Paige Cousley (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Chartiers Valley) continued to show growth as a setter by racking up a match-high 39 assists. She also tallied a team-best three aces.
Waynesburg's defensive efforts were paced by senior
Alyson Johnson (Raceland, Ky. / St. Joseph Central Catholic), who piled up a match-high 25 digs.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 16, when they travel to Bethany. Start time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
