WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 2) – The Waynesburg University women's soccer team hosted Grove City on Saturday for a Presidents' Athletic Conference meeting at John F. Wiley Stadium. Despite an offensive onslaught from the visiting Wolverines, Waynesburg hung around before coming up just short of victory in a 1-0 contest.
Grove City (4-6, 1-1) scored on its first shot of the game, which came in the second minute of play. That attempt was the first of 27 on the day for the visiting squad. Waynesburg (4-5, 0-2), on the other hand, managed just one shot on the evening, which came courtesy of junior
Sarah Rentler (Mt. Lebanon, Pa. / Mt. Lebanon).
After allowing the game-winning score, junior goalkeeper
Autumn Blair (Penn Hills, Pa. / Penn Hills) stopped the final 11 shots on goal to keep the score at 1-0.
The Jackets are back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 6, when they travel to Chatham for another conference contest. Start time is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
