WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 5) - The Waynesburg University men's tennis team wrapped up the fall portion of its season on Monday when it hosted Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) rival Geneva in a non-league matchup. The Yellow Jackets concluded the fall with a solid 6-3 win.Â
Waynesburg (2-2) got off to a strong start by taking two-of-three doubles contests. Sophomore
Ethan Lown (Lebanon, Pa. / Elizabethtown) and senior
Joey English (Smithfield, Pa. / Homeschooled) combined to down their opponents in the number-one flight by an 8-3 score. The Jackets scored their second win in doubles competition courtsey of graduate student
Conor Cassidy (Huntingtown, Md. / Huntingtown) Â and freshman
Rory Montreuil. The pair rolled to an 8-1 triumph and allowed Waynesburg to take a 2-1 lead into singles competition.Â
Cassidy, Lown and Montreuil all recorded straight-set wins in singles play. Sophomore
Adam Huckstein (Saxonburg, Pa. / Knoch) put the finishing touches on the victory by pulling out a three-set win at sixth singles. Huckstein came back to grab a 4-6, 6-2, 10-3 triumph.Â
