Women's basketball faces Penn State Behrend

Jackets drop road contest to Lions

ERIE, Pa. (Nov. 20) – The Waynesburg University women's basketball team traveled to Penn State Behrend for a non-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets fell into a deep hole early and dropped the road contest 80-52.

The Yellow Jackets (0-4) opened the contest on a field goal from sophomore Marley Wolfe (Ellwood City, Pa. / Riverside). The Lions (4-1) responded by scoring 18 of the next 20 points to build a 18-4 lead with 4:11 remaining in the first quarter. Behrend's offense proved potent in the opening 10 minutes, which ended with the home team holding a 32-9 lead.

The second quarter proved to be a closer period for the Yellow Jackets, as they outscored the Lions 15-8 heading into halftime. The Lions led the Jackets 40-24 at the break. Unfortunately, Behrend continued to build on its advantage throughout the second half before closing out the victory.

Sophomore Avery Robinson (Ravenna, Ohio / Ravenna) led the way for the Yellow Jackets scoring 12 points, all of which came on four three-pointers. Freshman Madisen Dayton (Ridgeley, W.Va. / Calvary Christian Academy) chipped in 10 points, while junior Anika Dansby (Massilon, Ohio / Washington) had a career-high 14 rebounds to go along with a team-high five assists.

Waynesburg travels to Otterbein on Tuesday for the third game of the team's five-game road trip. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
