A Look Inside the Hive
The Yellow Jackets started off hot in the opening minutes of their first game of the 2020-21 season against the undefeated Westminster Titans, building to a 17-11 lead over the first nine minutes of action. However, Westminster went on a 25-6 run to end the first half and eventually pull away for the win. Junior forward Isaiah Alonzo (Chandler, Ariz. / Tri-City Christian Academy) picked up where he left off last season when he was a second-team All-PAC selection by dropping a game-high 20 points and a grabbing a team-high six rebounds. Sophomore guard Ryan Felberg (Twinsburg, Ohio / Twinsburg) paced the team in assists with five, adding five points and three rebounds in the game. Junior guard Matt Popeck (Washington, Pa. / Washington) returned to game action for the first time since the second contest of the 2019-20 season, coming off the bench to score five points and four rebounds over 21 minutes of play. Waynesburg also managed to work in many newcomers to the lineup against the Titans, with four of them logging 17 or more minutes.

Scouting the Golden Tornadoes
Fresh off its first-ever PAC championship appearance in the 2019-20 season, Geneva began its 2020-21 season on the road against Saint Vincent, falling just short 68-66. The Bearcats led by as many as 11 in the first half, but Geneva managed to keep pace and jockey the lead back-and-forth before Saint Vincent ended up connecting on some late free throws to put the game away. As a team, Geneva shot just 32.8 percent from the field (22-67), compared to Saint Vincent's 46.3 percent (25-54). The Golden Tornadoes were paced in points by sophomore Lyle Tipton, who scored 14 points on six-of-nine shooting from the field. Senior AJ Stroop led the defensive efforts for the team, securing 10 rebounds and blocking two shots. Senior Joel Stutz has been a significant contributor for Geneva over the past few years and opened his season with a team-high 36 minutes played, nine points and four rebounds.

The Last Time They Met
Geneva defeated the Jackets 65-63 on Feb. 5, 2020 at home.
