WAYNESBURG, Pa. (March 11) – The Waynesburg University volleyball team hosted Grove City for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match on Thursday night. The Yellow Jackets fell 3-0 to the visiting Wolverines.

Grove City (3-1, 3-1) opened the evening with a 25-20 win in set one. Waynesburg (1-5, 1-3) led 25-24 in set two and was serving to tie the set. Unfortunately, Grove City scored the final three points to take the set 27-25 and grab a 2-0 advantage. The Wolverines controlled set three from the get-go on their way to a 25-9 victory that closed out the night.

Senior Hannah Colvin (Hagerstown, Md. / Grace Academy) recorded a team-high nine kills in the setback. Junior Hannah Buhr (Jefferson, Md. / Brunswick) chipped in eight kills. Senior Alexis Phillips (New Kensington, Pa. / Plum) helped out with a team-best 14 assists, while freshman Trysten Smith (Senecaville, Ohio / Shenandoah) set up eight helpers.

Junior Alyson Johnson (Raceland, Ky. / St. Joseph Central Catholic) continued to be a defensive stalwart by racking up a match-high 22 digs.

Following the PAC match, the two teams completed the night with a best two-out-of-three junior varsity match that didn't count towards either squad's record. Grove City earned a 2-0 victory in that showdown.

Though it won't count towards their official statistics, Colvin put down nine more kills in just two sets. Phillips and Smith posted nine and eight assists each. Johnson, Buhr, sophomore Hope Bidelman (Windber, Pa. / Windber) recorded nine, eight and seven digs, respectively.

Waynesburg is back in action on Friday, March 19, when it hosts Bethany for a PAC doubleheader. Start time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
