LATROBE, Pa. (March 30) – The Waynesburg University volleyball team traveled to Saint Vincent Tuesday evening for a Presidents' Athletic Conference matchup. Unfortunately for the Yellow Jackets, the Bearcats rolled to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-14) decision over the visiting squad.
Waynesburg (2-9, 2-6) fell behind early in the first set as Saint Vincent (2-6, 2-6) built up an 11-4 lead. As the set progressed, though, the Yellow Jackets brought that deficit down to just three points at 15-12, 16-13 and at 20-17. The Bearcats buckled down and scored five of the final six points to take the first set.
The Yellow Jackets kept things close early in the second set, trailing just 9-8 after getting some help from errors by the Bearcats. Saint Vincent settled in, building up to as high as a 10-point advantage (23-13) before the Yellow Jackets scored four of the final six points of the set.
In the third set, the two teams were tied at 3-3 in the early going. However, Saint Vincent rattled off nine-straight points to take a 12-3 lead and never looked back.

Mya Brooks (Lansing, Mich. / Holt) led the team's offensive efforts with eight kills and a .167 attack percentage. Defensively, junior libero
Alyson Johnson (Raceland, Ky. / St. Joseph Central Catholic) had a match-high 27 digs.
Waynesburg will be back in action next Wednesday, April 7, when they host the Westminster Titans for senior day. Start time for the first match of the doubleheader is set for 6 p.m.
