WAYNESBURG, Pa. (April 10) – The Waynesburg University women's soccer team hosted Saint Vincent for a Saturday Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup at John F. Wiley Stadium. The Yellow Jackets unleased a barrage of shots as they were able to edge the Bearcats 2-1.
Waynesburg (2-4, 2-4) unloaded 22 shots, 10 of which were on goal, while holding Saint Vincent (2-3-1, 2-3-1) to six total attempts, five of which were on goal. The Jackets also logged six corner kicks, while the Bearcats didn't take one attempt from the flags.
The home team broke up a scoreless tie during the second minute of the second half when senior
Jill Moyer (Cressona, Pa. / Blue Mountain) took a feed from freshman
Leah Vinay (West Homestead, Pa. / Steel Valley) and found the back of the net. Waynesburg's lead was short lived, however, as SVC tied the match at 1-1 less than five minutes later.
The Yellow Jackets went ahead`1 for good in the 70
th minute thanks to a tally from freshman
Kylie Talbert (Boonsboro, Md. / Boonsboro). Talbert was set up for the game winner by senior
Emily Facci (Johnstown, Pa. / Richland), who hit Talbert with a well-fed cross that led to the score.
The pair of tallies was enough support for sophomore
Faith Falick (Bridgeville, Pa. / South Fayette), who logged four saves over 90 minutes in net to pick up the victory.
Waynesburg is back in action on Tuesday, April 13, when it takes a road trip to Thiel. Start time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
