WAYNESBURG, Pa. (April 10) – The Waynesburg University women's tennis team hosted Thiel on a warm Saturday afternoon for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match. The Tomcats left town with a 7-2 victory.
Waynesbug (0-5, 0-5) picked up its first win of the day at number-one doubles thanks to a gutty effort from junior
Kyleigh Schmidt (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Baldwin) and sophomore
Madison Trent (Shanksville, Pa. / Shanksville-Stony Creek). Schmidt and Trent battled through the tightest match of the day and came out on the right side of a 7-7 (10-7) triumph.
The home team added a singles victory against Thiel (2-5, 2-5) thanks to sophomore
Marina Hastings, who downed her opponent at fifth singles 6-2, 2-6, 10-6.
The Jackets are back in action on Tuesday, April 13, when they host Bethany. Start time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
