WAYNESBURG, Pa. (April 1) – The Waynesburg University football team hosted its second home game in six days to open up the 2020-21 season on a cold, snowy Thursday night at John F. Wiley Stadium. The Yellow Jackets welcomed Carnegie Mellon to town and fell 51-0 to the Tartans.
Freshman linebacker
Alec Hendal (Canonsburg, Pa. / Canon-McMillan) had the best game of his young Yellow Jacket (0-2, 0-1) career. He tallied a game-high nine tackles, including four solo stops. Hendal also picked up a tackle for loss.
Junior safety
Luke Menges (Bethesda, Ohio / Union Local) and junior linebacker
Bret Hicks (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Charties Valley) chipped in eight total tackles each on the night. Sophomore linebacker
Brandon Ntankeu (Hyattsville, Md. / Montgomery Blair) added seven total stops, broke up a pass and recovered a fumble.
Junior wide receiver
Trenton Kerns (Falling Waters, W.Va. / Spring Mills) highlighted the offense with a game-high six catches for 37 yards against CMU (1-1, 0-1).
The Jackets play their first road game on Friday, April 9, when they travel to Bethany. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
