CRESSON, Pa. (Sept. 11) – The Waynesburg University women's soccer team made the trip to Mount Aloysius on Saturday for a non-President's Athletic Conference (PAC) battle with the homestanding Mounties. The Yellow Jackets found the back of the net early and then made the tally stand up for a 1-0 road victory.
Senior
Haley Frizzell (Finleyville, Pa. / Ringgold) logged the eventual game winner in the fourth minute after taking a feed inside the box from sophomore
Leah Vinay (West Homestead, Pa. / Steel Valley) and burying it for the score.
That tally was enough support for junior goalkeeper
Autumn Blair (Penn Hills, Pa. / Penn Hills), who made three saves over 90 minutes to pick up her first complete-game shutout of the season. It was Waynesburg's (2-1) second-straight shutout overall.
The Jackets outshot Mount Aloysius (2-2) by a slight 13-11 edge, and doubled up the home team 6-3 in shots on goal.
Waynesburg goes for its third-straight victory on Wednesday, Sept. 15, when it travels to Muskingum. Start time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
