Women's soccer earns third-straight win

Yellow Jackets come back for 3-1 victory at Muskingum

NEW CONCORD, Ohio (Sept. 15) – The Waynesburg University women's soccer team enjoyed a successful trip to the Buckeye State on Wednesday night to face Muskingum. The Yellow Jackets erased an early 1-0 deficit on their way to a 3-1 victory.

After falling behind the Muskies (0-6) during the first minute of the contest, Waynesburg (3-1) tied the score just 2:30 later. Junior Emily Redman (LaPlata, Md. / LaPlata) found the back of the net on an unassisted tally to make the score 1-1.

The score stayed knotted until the 38th minute, when freshman Haley Johnson (Somerset, Pa. / Rockwood) scored the first of two goals on the night, both of which came off assists from senior Lea Holtz (Johnstown, Pa. / Bishop McCort). The Jackets took their 2-1 lead into the halftime break.

Just 51 seconds into period number two, Holtz set up Johnson for the game's final goal that provided Waynesburg with some valuable breathing room. The Orange and Black was able to navigate the final 44 minutes of the night on its way to the win.

Junior goalkeeper Autumn Blair (Penn Hills, Pa. / Penn Hills) picked up the win net after making four saves over 90 minutes.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, Sept. 18, when they travel to Baldwin Wallace. Start time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
