NEW CONCORD, Ohio (Sept. 15) – The Waynesburg University men's soccer team traveled to Muskingum for a non-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup with the Muskies. The Yellow Jackets attempted a late comeback, but came up just short of sending the game to overtime, as the home team picked up a 2-1 win.
The Muskies (1-4) opened the scoring late in the 39
th minute to take a 1-0 lead, which was also the score at halftime. The host squad doubled its advantage in the 72
nd minute. However, Waynesburg wasn't ready to give up on pulling out a victory.
The visitors finally found the back of the net in the 81
st minutes, when sophomore
Logan Corradi (Darlington, Pa. / Blackhawk) took a feed from senior
Ryan McCann (Runcorn, England / Moon) and made the score 2-1. The Jackets drew a corner kick with three minutes left in the contest, but couldn't cash in on the opportunity. Muskingum was then able to run out the rest of the clock.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Zach Burke (Bowie, Md. / Bowie) got the start in net and played all 90 minutes. Burke logged five saves on the evening.
Waynesburg is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 18, when it returns to the Buckeye State to face off with Baldwin Wallace. Start time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
