NEW CONCORD, Ohio (Nov. 26) – The Waynesburg University women's basketball team traveled to Muskingum on Saturday for a non-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup. The Yellow Jackets got the game off to a solid start, but the host Muskies roared back for a 96-45 win.
After Muskingum (3-1) scored the first six points of the game, Waynesburg (0-5) answered with a 7-0 run that featured back-to-back field goals by senior guard
Anika Dansby (Massilon, Ohio / Washington) and a three pointer by freshman guard Liv Ammons (Crossroads, W.Va. / Clay-Battelle). After the two teams traded baskets, the Jackets still held a one-point edge at 9-8.
Unfortunately, that was the last lead the Jackets held on the day. Muskingum ended the opening 10 minutes on a 20-6 run that gave it a 28-15 advantage heading into the second quarter. The host team extended its advantage to 51-31 at halftime and scored at least 21 points each quarter on its way to victory.
Dansby and freshman Madison Platt (Follansbee, W.Va. / Brooke) tied for the Waynesburg lead in scoring with 11 points each. Freshman Emma Seto (Allison, Pa. / Brownsville) continued her strong season on the glass by gathering a squad-best seven rebounds. Her 8.6 boards per game currently have her in a tie for seventh in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) ranks.
The Jackets return to conference play on Wednesday, Nov. 30, with a road trip to Saint Vincent. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
