WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Dec. 14) – Congratulations go out to the latest Waynesburg Athletes of the Week. A pair of basketball standouts were selected as the final award winners of the fall semester.
Junior women's basketball player
Avery Robinson (Ravenna, Ohio / Ravenna) averaged a double-double and led Waynesburg in scoring and rebounding during a 1-1 week. She went for 21.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. She knocked down eight-of-19 three-point attempts (.420) and tallied four steals over that same stretch.
Robinson put together one of her most productive games as a collegian during Saturday's 89-87 win over Geneva. She racked up a team-high 27 points, completed a double-double with a game-high 14 rebounds and nearly reached a triple-double thanks to her contest-best eight assists. As if all that wasn't enough, Robinson swiped away three steals.
Junior men's basketball player
Antone Baker (Maple Heights, Ohio / Maple Heights) averaged a double-double for Waynesburg over a 1-1 week. He tallied 14.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game, while also swiping two steals and blocking three shots. Of his 22 rebounds, 10 were on the offensive side of the glass. He also shot seven-of-nine from the free throw line (.777) and 11-of-17 from the floor (.640).
Both Waynesburg hoops teams are back in action on Tuesday, Dec. 20, when they host Hiram for an afternoon doubleheader. The Yellow Jacket women take the court at 2 p.m., with the men scheduled to follow at 4 p.m.
