PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Dec. 3) – The Waynesburg University women's basketball team traveled to Pittsburgh to take on perennial powerhouse Carnegie Mellon. The Yellow Jackets fell 91-48.
The Tartans (7-0) set the tone early by outscoring Waynesburg (0-7) 28-5 in the first quarter. CMU's lead grew to 47-19 by halftime as the home team went on to pick up the win.
Waynesburg was led by a trio of double-digit scorers. Junior guard
Avery Robinson (Ravenna, Ohio / Ravenna) tallied a team-high 15 points. Junior guard
Marley Wolf (Ellwood City, Pa. / Riverside) scored 14 points in an effort that included a seven-for-seven showing at the foul line. Senior guard
Anika Dansby (Massilon, Ohio / Washington) had one of her best collegiate games from three-point range to power a 12-point showing. Dansby went four-for-six from long range.
The Jackets are back in action on Thursday, Dec. 8, when they host Pitt Greensburg for another non-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
