WAYNESBURG Pa. (Feb. 16) – The Waynesburg University women's basketball team hosted Bethany for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup on Wednesday night. The Yellow Jackets fell to the Bison by the final score of 83-48.
Waynesburg (5-18, 5-12) fell into a 22-7 hole after 10 minutes of play, but were able to close the gap a bit after outscoring Bethany (14-9, 9-7) 16-13 in the second quarter. Unfortunately, the Bison were able to put the game away in period number three when they exploded for 26 points and built up a 61-38 lead.
Though it came in a losing effort, Waynesburg senior center
Brooke Fuller (Allison Park, Pa. / Hampton) put together a strong offensive output. She set game highs in points (24) and rebounds (eight) while shooting 10-of-20 from the floor.
The Jacket defense was also able to hold the PAC's leading scorer, Bethany freshman Lindsey Garrison, to just four points on two-of-10 shooting. The league's leader in both three pointers made per game and three-point shooting percentage was held to an 0-4 shooting effort from three-point range.
Waynesburg wraps up its regular season schedule on Saturday, Feb. 19, when it hosts Geneva for senior day. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
