BETHANY, W.Va. (April 14) – The Waynesburg University women's lacrosse team traveled to Bethany on Thursday for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest. The Yellow Jackets fell 17-3 to the Bison.
The host squad led 14-0 at halftime, before junior
Rachel Caldwell (Ligonier, Pa. / Ligonier Valley) got Waynesburg (0-9, 0-5) on the board 2:24 into the third quarter. Bethany (6-7, 1-3) answered the tally to take a 15-1 lead into the fourth quarter.
Juniors
Eve O'Sullivan (Latrobe, Pa. / Greater Latrobe) and
Tori Meiklejohn (Boonsboro, Md. / Boonsoboro) split the pipes over the final 15 minutes. Bethany did the same to bring about the final score of the night.
Meiklejohn led Waynesburg in caused turnovers (4), while O'Sullivan won a squad-best four draw controls. Junior
Alexis Shandor (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Baldwin) scooped a Waynesburg-high five ground balls.
Freshman goalkeeper
Anna Bradley (Bridgeville, Pa. / South Fayette) snagged nine saves over 60 minutes in goal.
Waynesburg returns home on Wednesday, April 20, to play their final game of the season at John F. Wiley Stadium. The Yellow Jackets host Franciscan for a PAC match at 6 p.m.
