WHEELING, W.Va. (Sept. 29) – The Waynesburg University men's golf team traveled to The Robert Trent Jones Speidel Course at Oglebay Golf Resort on Tuesday for a tri-match against Kent State Tuscarawas and the host Bethany Bison. Playing a three ball format, the Yellow Jackets defeated both Bethany and the Golden Eagles.
The Jackets downed the host squad 5-0 and won a 3-2 thriller with Tuscarawas.
The freshman duo of
Matthew Karpeal (Smithfield, Pa. / Albert Gallatin) and
Hudson Pincavitch (Waynesburg, Pa. / Waynesburg Central) led the charge by not only picking up victories against Bethany, but also posting impressive performances against the Eagles. Karpeal won his match 4 and 3, while Pincavitch downed his opposition 7 and 6.
The contest came down to freshman
Alex Solomon (Morgantown, W.Va. / University), who came through with a hard-fought 3 and 1 victory. His wins on holes 15 and 17, along with a tie on 16 helped him lock down both the individual and team wins.
Senior
Carter Newcome (Punxsutawney, Pa. / Punxsutawney) and sophomore
Tyler Rollinson (Scottdale, Pa. / Southmoreland) made the trip and were victorious against their opponents from Bethany.
