Tri-Match Results
WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Jan. 13) – The Waynesburg University wrestling team hosted McDaniel and New Jersey City University on Friday afternoon for a tri-match. The short-handed Yellow Jackets went 0-2 on the day.
Waynesburg (0-8, 0-1) dropped its first match of the day 42-12 to McDaniel (6-7) and followed that up with a 49-5 loss to NJCU (6-9). The Jackets were severely hamstringed by a combined 12 forfeits in the twin bill.
Junior 174-pounder
Colby Morris (Waynesburg, Pa. / Waynesburg Central) continues to be the biggest bright spot for the Jackets, as he added two more wins to his undefeated campaign. Morris pinned McDaniel's Yoanna Olympio in 2:50. His second match, which came against TCNJ's Jazz Bull, concluded with 22-4 technical fall in 6:00.
Senior
Luke Lavanway (Monroe, Mich. / Mason) picked up a win by injury default at heavyweight against McDaniel.
Waynesburg returns to the mats on Saturday, Jan. 21, when it competes in the Dr. Si Ostrach Meet, which is hosted by Case Western Reserve.
