GROVE CITY, Pa. (Oct. 4) – The Waynesburg University volleyball team traveled to Grove City on Wednesday night to open Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play. The Yellow Jackets were thinking upset after taking set one, but the Wolverines rebounded to take the final three and won the match 3-1.
Waynesburg (7-9, 0-1) got the best of the host squad (15-5, 1-0) by a score of 25-21 in set one. Grove City swept sets two-through-four 25-15, 25-18, 25-6.
The Jackets were led by junior
Emma Hyatt (Carmichaels, Pa. / Carmichaels), who put down a team-high 10 kills to go along with squad-best three blocks. Freshman
Kendall Ellsworth (Carmichaels, Pa. / Carmichaels) helped out the offense with 12 assists.
Waynesburg's defensive efforts featured junior
Jordan Stein (Manor, Pa. / Norwin), who paced her team with 19 digs.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 7, when they host Bethany for alumni day. Start time for the PAC match is scheduled for 11 a.m.
