GREENVILLE, Pa. (Feb. 6) – The Waynesburg University wrestling team wrapped up its 2022-23 regular season at Saturday's John Summa Invitational. The efforts of two Yellow Jackets at the event allowed the squad to sweep the final Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) weekly wrestling awards.
Junior
Colby Morris (Waynesburg, Pa. / Waynesburg Central) earned a league-best third PAC Wrestler of the Week award after earning second place at 174 pounds. Morris opened his run with a 7-2 decision over Brandon Burkhart of Baldwin Wallace and followed that up with a pin in 1:28 over Brady Walsh of Ohio Wesleyan. His semifinal win, a 4-2 overtime decision over Baldwin Wallace's Luke Hopkins, moved Morris to 21-0 on the year and set up a championship bout with Chase Morgan, a two-time NCAA Division II national qualifier from West Liberty. The two duked it out for seven tense minutes, before Morgan pulled out a 3-2 win.
Freshman
Ryan Bachar (Export, Pa. / Penn-Trafford) was named PAC Rookie of the Week after going 1-2 at 157 pounds at the Summa.
