MEADVILLE, Pa. (March 29) – The Waynesburg University women's lacrosse team traveled to snowy Allegheny on Wednesday to face the Gators in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match. The Yellow Jackets fell 20-2 to the top team in the PAC.
Allegheny (7-2, 2-0) built a 9-0 lead after 10:07 of play. Waynesburg (2-5, 0-2) got on the board when senior
Tori Meiklejohn (Boonsboro, Md. / Boonsboro) found the back of the net 25 seconds later. The home team scored the next two goals to expand its lead to 11-1.
The Jackets tallied their final score of the day when senior
Tara Wildner (Johnstown, Pa. / Richland) took a feed from senior
Eve O'Sullivan (Latrobe, Pa. / Greater Latrobe) and found the back of the net with 28 seconds remaining in the first quarter. The Gators managed to slip in one last goal with just three seconds left to play in the period.
Allegheny scored five times in the second quarter and three more times in the third before the game was called early because of the heavy snowfall.
Sophomore
Anna Bradley (Bridgeville, Pa. / South Fayette) got the start in goal and made five saves over the first half of play. Freshman
Diana Gurecka (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Seton LaSalle) picked up a save during the third quarter of action.
