GREENVILLE, Pa. (April 26) – The Waynesburg University women's lacrosse team traveled to Thiel for the penultimate game of the 2023 season. The Yellow Jackets fell 22-4 to the Tomcats.
Thiel (5-10, 1-7) built up a 10-0 lead in the first quarter, before Waynesburg (3-12, 0-8) broke up the shutout with a goal from senior
Eve O'Sullivan (Latrobe, Pa. / Latrobe) with 1:13 remaining in the period. The home team posted the final point of the quarter and led 11-1 going to the second.
Thiel didn't let up in the second, as it outscored the Jackets 6-0 before taking a 17-1 advantage into halftime.
The Jackets opened the second-half scoring thanks to O'Sullivan's second of the night, before Thiel responded with three-straight tallies. The Orange and Black picked up its final two goals of the game in back-to-back fashion thanks to senior
Rachel Caldwell (Ligonier, Pa. / Ligonier Valley) and O'Sullivan, who completed the hat trick.
Both Caldwell and O'Sullivan logged an assist each in the loss.
Sophomore
Anna Bradley (Bridgeville, Pa. / South Fayette) started and played all 60 minutes in goal. She tallied eight saves.
The Jackets wrap up the 2023 season on Sunday, April 30, when they travel to Westminster to face the Titans in a PAC match. Start time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
