WAYNESBURG, Pa. (April 5) – The Waynesburg University men's tennis team hosted Westminster on Wednesday for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match with the Titans. The Yellow Jackets dropped the contest by a 7-2 final score.
Junior
Ethan Lown (Lebanon, Pa. / Elizabethtown) earned the Jackets' (0-6, 0-3 PAC) first win of the day in his number-one singles match. Lown struggled in the opening set with, but was able to notch a thrilling come-from-behind 1-6, 6-2, 10-8 victory.
Like Lown, senior
Michael Saliba (New Kensington, Pa. / Valley) was also able to notch a three-set win over his Westminster (2-5, 1-2) opponent by set scores of 6-1, 3-6 and 10-4.
Junior
Keegan Raabe (Tyrone, Pa. / Tyrone) came up just short in both sets (6-4, 6-3) of his fourth-singles contest.
In doubles, the duos of Lown and junior
Adam Huckstein (Saxonburg, Pa. / Knoch) as well as Saliba and junior
Justin North (Plum, Pa. / Plum) both fell 8-4 in closely battled matches.
The Jackets will travel north up Interstate 79 for a Thursday conference battle with Washington & Jefferson. Play is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
