MCKEESPORT, Pa. (Sept. 1) – The Waynesburg University men's golf team opened up the 2023 fall season with a dual match against Carlow at Youghiogheny Country Club on Friday. The Yellow Jackets defeated the Celtics 337-347.
Waynesburg was led by sophomore
Matthew Karpeal (Smithfield, Pa. / Albert Gallatin), who carded a match-best score of eight-over 80 on the Par-72 course. Freshman
Michael Clark (Andover, Ohio / Pymatuning Valley) carded the second lowest 18-hole tally with an 82, while sophomore
Hudson Pincavitch (Waynesburg, Pa. / Waynesburg Central) followed closely behind with an 84. Sophomore
Matt Ankrom (Waynesburg, Pa. / Waynesburg Central) completed the Yellow Jackets' scoring four with a 91.
Sophomore
Gage Fuller (Elrama, Pa. / Ringgold) and freshman
Nathan Barnhart (Washington, Pa. / Trinity) also hit the course for the Orange and Black and carded scores of 102 and 89, respectively.
The Waynesburg men return to the course on Thursday, Sept. 14, when they compete in the Grove City Invitational. Tee time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
