SHARON, Pa. (Sept. 7) – The Waynesburg University women's volleyball team hit the road for a non-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match at Penn State Shenango. The Yellow Jackets swept through the Lions by a final 3-0 score.
Waynesburg (2-3) downed Shenango (0-4) by the set scores of 25-10, 25-17, 25-16 and were led offensively by junior
Emma Hyatt (Carmichaels, Pa. / Carmichaels), who put down a match-high five kills. She added three aces to a productive scoring night.
Speaking of aces, junior
Jordan Stein (Manor, Pa. / Norwin) posted a match-high four of them, while tying for the squad lead with six digs. Sophomore
Paige Mortimore (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Brentwood), matched Stein in the statistical category.
A pair of freshmen led the Jackets in assists and blocks, respectively.
Kendall Ellsworth (Carmichaels, Pa. / Carmichaels) set up nine Waynesburg kills, while
Carissa Krall (Johnstown, Pa. / Westmont Hilltop) stuffed four attack attempts by the Lions.
The Jackets return to action on Saturday, Sept. 9, with a tri-match at Pitt Greensburg. The Jackets will face Penn State Greater Allegheny, as well as the host Bobcats.
