WASHINGTON, Pa. (October 10) – The Waynesburg University women's tennis team capped its fall season with a 7-0 defeat at Washington & Jefferson on Thursday evening.
The Jackets finish the fall campaign with at 1-10 and 0-8 in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) competition. W&J rises to 7-5, 4-4 PAC. The top six teams in the PAC standings advance to the conference tournament, which begins on campus sites next Tuesday.
The Jackets managed just two total games won in last fall's meeting with the Presidents. This year, Waynesburg won 18 games across three singles flights in the matchup.
Julia Corey (Eighty Four, Pa. / Ringgold) played to the third set super tiebreaker at No. 3 singles. After dropping the first set, she bounced back with a 6-3 win before falling 10-8 in the super tiebreaker.
Alli Bailey (Mount Pleasant, Pa. / Mount Pleasant) won four games in a 6-4, 6-0 defeat at fifth singles and
Aubrey Burns (Kittaning, Pa. / Armstrong) won six games in a 6-4, 6-2 loss at sixth singles.
