In a first half that only featured five shots, the Jackets found the lone goal of the opening 45 minutes in the 23rd minute.
Brooklyn Loveland (New Cumberland, W. Va. / Oak Glen) served a corner kick into the center of the penalty area, 10 yards from the goal line, where
Julz Mohrbacher (Freedom, Pa. / Freedom) chopped a bouncing shot towards goal. The Chatham keeper had a read on the ball but
Waverly Lorne (New Providence, N.J. / Governor Livingston) swooped in and redirected the ball into the bottom left corner of the net to give the Jackets a 1-0 lead.
Alexus Greenlief (Chester, W. Va. / Oak Glen) maintained Waynesburg's edge with a save in the 33rd minute and Mohrbacher had a high shot on goal tipped away in the final minute of the half as the Jackets carried their one-goal edge into halftime.
The Jackets tacked on another goal early in the second half following a throw-in in the offensive third. Upon insertion of the throw, a header and volley between the two teams put the bouncing ball into the top of the 18-yard box.
Amanda Pepe (Mantua, N.J. / Gloucester County Institute of Technology) took possession, split two defenders and blasted a left-footed shot inside the left post to put Waynesburg up 2-0 in the 52nd minute.
Greenlief made a pair of saves in the 75th minute, the first being a diving stop on a well-struck shot.
Mohrbacher added an insurance goal with a right-footed bomb from beyond the upper-right corner of the 18-yard box to the opposite top left corner in the 83rd minute and the Jackets walked away with the 3-0 victory.
Waynesburg earned the win despite being outshot 10-6 on the night. Both teams had five shots on goal and Greenlief notched five saves in the shutout.
