WAYNESBURG, Pa. (October 2) – The Waynesburg University women's soccer team picked up its first point in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action as the Jackets played to a 1-1 draw against Allegheny on Wednesday evening at John F. Wiley Stadium.
Waynesburg moves to 4-3-2 on the year and 0-2-1 in league play. Allegheny now stands at 5-5-1, 1-1-1 PAC.
Despite being outshot 17-6 in the first half, Waynesburg carried a 1-0 lead into the halftime break thanks to a
Julz Mohrbacher (Freedom, Pa. / Freedom) tally in the 26th minute.
Brooklyn Loveland served a corner kick into the six-yard box where Mohrbacher grazed a header past the Gators' keeper on the bounce.
Waynesburg's lead held until the 52nd minute as Allegheny volleyed in a shot from 11 yards out to knot the game at one.
The Jackets managed just two shots in the second half with
Reagan Mittendorf (Bluffton, Ohio / Bluffton) stepping into a left-angled shot from 20-yards out in the opening minutes and Mohrbacher had a sliding attempt roll wide-right in the 65th.
Alexus Greenlief (Chester, W. Va. / Oak Glen) made six saves after Allegheny's equalizer to preserve the tie.
Allegheny held a 28-9 edge in shots (13-4 SOG) and both teams recorded four corner kicks.
The Jackets host Washington & Jefferson on Saturday.
