Women’s Soccer nets eight goals in PAC win at Thiel

GREENVILLE, Pa. (October 9) – The Waynesburg University women's soccer team tallied eight goals in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) shutout win at Thiel on Wednesday evening.

The Jackets earn points in the PAC standings for the third straight game as the Jackets rise to 6-3-2 overall and 2-2-1 in PAC play. Thiel falls to 3-9, 0-4 PAC.

Waynesburg scored four goals in each half, including a pair of penalty kick goals in the second half. Seven different players find the back of the net, including four Jackets who scored their first collegiate goal.

Reagan Mittendorf (Bluffton, Ohio / Bluffton) began the scoring in the 17th minute off a feed from Amanda Pepe (Mantua, N.J. / Gloucester County Institute of Technology). Julz Mohrbacher (Freedom, Pa. / Freedom) scored in the 23rd and 28th minutes, the first goal coming via Waverly Lorne

Sydney Brown (Kittanning, Pa. / Armstrong) notched her first tally as a Yellow Jacket from a pass from Pepe in the 37th minute to give the Jackets a 4-0 halftime lead.

Nicky Veychek (Irwin, Pa. / Yough) and Alex Delaney (Sturgeon, Pa. / South Fayette) cashed penalty kick goals in the 51st and 88th minutes. Freshman Peyton Williams (Newport News, Va. / Peninsula Catholic) notched her first goal in the 8th and Pepe put one in the goals column in the 78th.

Waynesburg posted season highs in goals, shots (34), shots on goal (20) and penalty kicks (2-2).

The Jackets notched their fourth shutout of the season as four different players played in net. Alexus Greenlief (Chester, W. Va. / Oak Glen) played the first half and made one save. Alex Francus (Bethel Park, Pa. / Bethel Park) had three saves.

Waynesburg travels to Saint Vincent on Saturday.
