WAYNESBURG, Pa. (March 23) – The Waynesburg University women's tennis team opened its spring campaign with a 7-2 defeat to Mount Aloysius at the Bechtle Family Tennis Facility on Saturday.

Waynesburg moves to 1-10 on the season while the Mounties advance to 7-8.

Alli Bailey (Mount Pleasant, Pa. Mount Pleasant) and Aubrey Burns (Kittaning, Pa. Armstrong) combined for an 8-5 win at third doubles as Mount Aloysius took two of three doubles flights. 

Burns was Waynesburg's lone singles victor as she took a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles. Bailey won six games in a 6-4, 6-2 defeat at No. 4 singles. Karly Starcher (Williamston, W. Va. St. Mary's) hung tough in the first set before falling 6-4, 6-1 at third singles.

Waynesburg women's tennis returns to action against Geneva on April 10.
