Women’s Lax falls to PAC-unbeaten W&J

WASHINGTON, Pa. (April 19) – The Waynesburg University women's lacrosse team fell 18-3 at Washington & Jefferson on Saturday afternoon.

The Jackets fall to 1-14 on the year and 0-7 in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action. W&J notches its eighth-straight win to remain atop the league standings with a 7-0 PAC record and 8-6 overall mark.

Waverly Lorne (New Providence, N.J. / Governor Livingston) notched Waynesburg's lone tally of the first quarter as the Presidents built a 9-1 lead in the opening period. W&J prompted a running clock early in the second quarter. Lorne scored the first goal of the second half and added one more score in the fourth as the Presidents owned a 4-2 scoring edge over the final half hour of the contest.

Lorne paced the Jackets with three goals, seven ground balls, six caused turnovers and three draw controls. She eclipsed 100 ground balls and 100 draw controls in the contest. Lorne already set single-season records for GB and CT this season.

Mya Riggle (Ford City, Pa. / Armstrong) collected two draw controls and put two shots on frame. Zimoara Reyes (Kearneysville, W.Va. / Martinsburg) scooped two ground balls and caused one turnover. Diana Grucka (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Seton LaSalle) made eight saves on the day.
