WAYNESBURG, Pa. (September 30) – The Waynesburg University volleyball team won returned to its winning ways with a 3-0 sweep of Penn State Shenango in the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse on Monday evening.
The Jackets move to 4-9 on the season and remain unbeaten at home (3-0). Shenango falls to 6-10 on the year.
Waynesburg won with set scores of 25-9, 25-20 and 25-10 and never trailed in the match. The Jackets set a season high with a .333 hitting percentage and set there-set highs in kills (42), total blocks (six) and points (53).
Kristina Zadrozny (McDonald, Pa. / West Allegheny) led the charge for Waynesburg with 13 kills, nine digs and four total blocks.
Madi Dayton (Ridgeley, W. Va. / Calvary Christian) added nine kills and nine digs.
Paige Mortimore (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Brentwood) and
Carissa Krall (Johnstown, Pa. / Westmont Hilltop) each had seven kills.
Ray Baniaga (Honolulu, Hawaii / Sacred Hearts) dished 17 assists and
Paige Cousley (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Chartiers Valley) added nine.
Jordan Stein (Manor, Pa. / Norwin) collected 18 digs in the three-set match.
The Jackets travel to Thiel next Monday.
