Jackets stifle Hiram in 2-0 victory

HIRAM, Ohio (Oct. 22) – The Waynesburg University women's soccer team picked up its fifth Presidents' Athletic Conference win in a row by beating Hiram 2-0 on Wednesday. The Yellow Jackets received goals from sophomore forward Amanda Pepe (Mantua, N.J. / Gloucester County Institute of Technology) and junior midfielder Amanda Sweeney (Hagerstown, Md. / Grace Academy) in the victory.

In the 28th minute, the Yellow Jackets (13-1-2, 7-0-2) got the game-winning goal from Pepe, which was set up by a pass from freshman midfielder Ryan White (Lewisburg, W.Va. / Greenbrier East). White's pass came from the right side, meeting Pepe in the middle, and then went into the bottom left side of the goal.

The Jackets out-shot the Terriers (5-11, 2-7) 14-0 (10-0 SOG) and tallied all five corner kicks in the first half.

The Jackets added their insurance goal in the 62nd minute off a corner kick from senior midfielder Reagan Mittendorf (Bluffton, Ohio / Bluffton). It was her PAC-leading ninth helper on the season.

Junior goalkeeper Lex Greenlief (Chester, W. Va. / Oak Glen) provided one save in the win for her seventh shutout of the campaign.
