WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 25) – The Waynesburg University women's soccer team has been one of the hardest teams in all of NCAA Division III to score upon this season. On Monday, one of the leaders of that defense was honored by the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) as its Defensive Player, Goalkeeper of the Week.

Sophomore Abby Ngugi (Jefferson Hills, Pa. / Thomas Jefferson) and her defensive mates have made life miserable for opposing offenses. This past week, Ngugi led a Yellow Jacket defense that not only didn't allow a goal in two games but stifled the opposition to the tune of 12 total shots and five shots on goal. The Jackets were particularly dominant during Wednesday's 2-0 win over Hiram. The Terriers managed just four total shots, one of which was on goal.

For a complete look at this week's PAC women's soccer release click here. The Jackets have given up just six goals in 17 games this season. That goals against average currently has them 16th in the country.

Waynesburg wraps up the regular season on Wednesday with arguably the biggest game across the conference this fall, as first-place Grove City comes to John F. Wiley Stadium. The winner of this contest will be the top seed heading into the upcoming PAC tournament. Waynesburg has already locked down a top-two seed, a first-round bye and a home semifinal contest on Wednesday, Nov. 5.
