WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 29) – The Waynesburg University men's soccer team wrapped up its 2025 season on a rainy Wednesday night at John F. Wiley Stadium against Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC)-leading Grove City. The Yellow Jackets fell 3-1 to the Wolverines.
Grove City (13-2-2, 10-0-1) opened the scoring in the 12
th minute by squeezing a goal past Waynesburg (7-6-5, 2-4-5) freshman keeper
Deven Patel (Columbus, Ohio / St. Francis DeSales).
The Jackets were quick to respond in the 18th minute. Senior
Nick Bryan (Olathe, Kan. / Blue Valley Southwest) sent a rocketing shot that went right over the goalie following a pass from junior
Zachary Johnson (Raceland, Ky. / Saint Joseph Central Catholic) to beat the defense for the game-tying goal.
Unfortunately, the Wolverines fired back to log the eventual game winner in the 25
th minute. They added an insurance goal in the 35
th minute, which was also the final score for either team on the night.
It was a busy evening for Patel, who logged nine saves in the loss.
The Wolverines outshot Waynesburg 24-10 and held a 13-5 advantage in shots on goal. Each team attempted five corner kicks.
