WASHINGTON, Pa. (Oct. 4) - The Waynesburg women's soccer team tied Presidents' Athletic Conference opponent Washington & Jefferson 2-2 in a road contest Saturday. Junior forward Julz Mohrbacher (Freedom, Pa. / Freedom) scored both goals in the draw.Â
In the first half, the Presidents (4-5-2, 1-1-2) jumped to an early lead before Mohrbacher tied the game in the 42nd minute. The assist was from senior midfielder Reagan Mittendorf (Bluffton, Ohio / Bluffton) on a free kick to Mohrbacher, who connected on a header to the right side to tie the game 1-1.Â
In the first half, the Jackets (8-1-2, 2-0-2) led in shots 10-5 (SOG 2-1) and had four corner kicks.Â
Mohrbacher's second goal came in the 81st minute off an assist by sophomore defender Brynn Kirby (Waynesburg, Pa. / Waynesburg Central). Kirby's assist was a corner kick shot directly to Mohrbacher as she tapped it over the goalkeeper's head to the upper middle of the goal.Â
The Jackets let up the game-tying goal in the 89th minute.Â
Junior goalkeeper Lex Greenlief (Chester, W. Va. / Oak Glen) had one save on the day.Â
The Jackets outshot the Presidents 18-9 (7-3 SOG) and had nine of the game's 10 corner kicks.Â
Waynesburg will return home on Wednesday, Oct. 8, and play Thiel at John F. Wiley Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m.Â
