WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 8) – The Waynesburg University women's volleyball team welcomed the Saint Vincent Bearcats to the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse Wednesday night for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match. The Bearcats took the three-set victory by the scores of 25-22, 25-22, and 25-22.
The Yellow Jackets (2-16, 0-7) and Bearcats (4-9, 3-4) traded runs throughout the early portion of set one. Unfortunately, Saint Vincent scored six of the last eight points of the set to take a 1-0 advantage.
Waynesburg had an opportunity to tie the match, as it built a 21-19 advantage in set two. However, the visitors closed the set by scoring six of the final seven point for a 2-0 match advantage.
In the third set, the Yellow Jackets opened with an 8-3 run. Unfortunately, the Bearcats battled back to tie the score at 13-13, before they took the back-and-forth set to close out the night.
Junior
Kristina Zadrozny (McDonald, Pa. / West Allegheny) shined brightly for the Jackets, as she racked up a match-high15 kills. Senior
Riley Ruffley (Bedford, Pa. / Bedford) helped out the offense with a contest-best 21 assists.
Freshman
Mallory Boyd (West Jefferson, Ohio / West Jefferson) had a productive night that featured14 digs and three aces, both of which were match highs.
The Yellow Jackets hit the road on Friday with a PAC match at Thiel. Start time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
