WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Nov. 14) – The Waynesburg University men's basketball team hosted a trio of talented opponents during day one of the Omni Ink Waynesburg Tip-Off Tournament on Friday. After Mount Union defeated Muhlenberg to reach tomorrow's finals, the host Yellow Jackets fell to Case Western Reserve 89-61 in the late semifinal contest.
Waynesburg (3-1) found itself in a 32-10 hole midway through the first half and trailed the Spartans (3-0) 54-21 at halftime.
The Jackets were able to finish the night on a high note by outscoring Case Western Reserve 40-35 in the second period as many of the team's reserves got a chance to log some valuable varsity minutes.
Tops amongst those reserves was junior
Aiden Blake (Parkersburg, W.Va. / Parkersburg South), who poured in a game-high 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting. He was particularly impressive from three-point range, where he converted 5-of-7 attempts.
After suffering its first defeat of the season, Waynesburg landed itself a showdown with Muhlenberg in the tournament's consolation game. Tipoff tomorrow is scheduled for 1 p.m.
