BACK ON TRACK
Waynesburg emphatically broke out of a four-game losing streak by defeating Bethany 48-28 this past Saturday. Junior running back Carson Shriver (Fairview, W.Va. / Clay-Battelle) played a major role in the victory by rushing for 228 yards. The Yellow Jackets erased a 3-0 deficit in the second quarter, when senior Isaac Trout took off on a 91-yard kick return for a touchdown. That electric play kickstarted the Jacket scoring efforts that netted 35 of the next 38 points and paved the way to victory.

BEARCATS GROUNDED BY WOLVERINES
Saint Vincent's vaunted passing attack was kept in check by a stingy Grove City defense that paved the way for a 59-14 Wolverine win. The game was tied 7-7 early in the second quarter, before the home team exploded for 52-straight points and put victory well out of reach for the Bearcats. SVC recorded the final points of the game with 27 seconds showing on the clock. Saint Vincent's high-powered attack was limited to just 173 total yards, including 133 through the air.

SHRIVER RAKES IN THE ACCOLADES
After exploding in Waynesburg's 48-28 win at Bethany, Shriver received plenty of praise at both the conference and national levels. He was named PAC Offensive Player of the Week one day before earning a spot on the D3Football.com Team of the Week. Shriver converted 24 carries into 228 yards, which is the second-highest single-game rushing total in the conference the season. His ground efforts were highlighted by a 64-yard sprint to paydirt in the third quarter. Shriver added a 13-yard catch for 241 total offensive yards on the day.

SPEAKING OF PRAISE ...
Senior wide receiver Isaac Trout joined Shriver as a PAC honoree as the conference's Special Teams Player of the Week after breaking free for a 91-yard kickoff return for a touchdown against Bethany. That play gave the Jackets a 7-3 advantage they never relinquished.

SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
While mostly known for its passing game, the Saint Vincent offense is more balanced than perhaps it gets credite for. Sophomore running back Julian Walker currently ranks sixth in the PAC with 62.4 yards per game and three touchdowns to complement a passing game that produces 281.9 ypg, good for fourth in the league. Defensively, sophomore Nathan Parker comes into Saturday's game ranked fifth in the conference with 9.5 tackles per game. SVC also boasts three defenders - Devon Dean-Cole, Patrick Connoll and Robbie Labuda - in the top 10 of the league in terms of interceptions.

FEAST OR FAMINE
Even though Halloween is in the rearview mirror, Saint Vincent's offense has been performing a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde act in 2025. The Bearcats have averaged 39.5 points per game in their top four scoring outputs this season. However, in their other four games, all losses, they've managed just 13 points per contest. In their last two games, which were losses to Washington & Jefferson and Grove City, Saint Vincent scored just 10 and 14 points, respectively.

LIKE LOOKING IN A MIRROR
Though there are few similarities between Waynesburg and Saint Vincent schematically, their results have been noticeably similar. Saint Vincent is ranked seventh in scoring in the PAC, while Waynesburg is eighth. Conversely, Waynesburg's defense has given up the seventh-most points in the league, while the Bearcats currently hold the number eight spot.
